Later in the same chapter, Keynes comments:

She links these changes to five major trends: (1) innovations in the way financial markets operate; (2) the increased scope of markets; (3) the shift from commercial to investment banking; (4) the rise of the Asian investment markets; and (5) the removal of government regulation from banking. As with the work of Strange, who found value in the ideas associated with the term casino capitalism, Minsky contributed to an analysis of uncertainty in markets. Minsky is famous for proposing the financial instability hypothesis, which argues that most forms of capitalism tend toward instability. He supported long-term large-scale economies with decided government intervention. Dimitri Papadimitriou and L. Randall Wray (1998) argue that Minsky’s work, in this way, is best labeled post-Keynesian because he attempted to set out the precise institutional means by which the casino system might be better regulated, whereas Keynes made only the most general of comments. In all these cases, the notion that capitalism is essentially speculative and little more than a system of big and small bets in a grand game of chance is at work, and most of the writings around this topic focus on ways to make this irrational system more susceptible to reason and stability.

Jesse Michael Alto (January 1, 1927 – May 3, 1998),[1] was an Americanpoker player, best known for his numerous main event final table appearances at the World Series of Poker.
Alto was a fixture at the World Series of Poker in the 1970s and 1980s. Poker le lyon vert et. Although he never won any WSOP bracelets, he cashed in many events, most notably in the main event.
Alto was one of the final five players at the 1974 final table finishing either fourth or fifth according to New York Times magazine story from July 28, 1974.
Alto’s most highest Main Event finish was in 1976 where he finished as the runner-up to Doyle Brunson. In the final hand of the 1976 WSOP Alto held A♣J♥ while Brunson held 10♠2♠. The flop came A♥J♠10♥ giving two pairs for Alto and one pair for Brunson. Alto then led out with a pot size bet, Brunson with the chip lead countered by moving all-in, which was called. The turn came 2♣, giving Brunson two pair but still trailing, the river brought 10♦ giving Brunson a full house and the win.[2] This was Alto’s highest finish in the WSOP main event, but his highest main event money finish was 3rd place in 1984, because the main event had a winner-take-all format until 1978.
Alto made the WSOP Main Event final table 7 times: 1974, 1975, 1976, 1978, 1984, 1985 and 1986.

An early settler in the region was Martin Lacy, who built Lacy’s Fort just to the west to the current site of Alto in around 1838. In 1838 and 1839, during the campaign to suppress the Córdova Rebellion, the fort served as an operations and supply base for the Third Militia brigade commanded by Maj. Gen. Thomas J. Rusk.[5]
The town of Alto was laid out in 1849 and named for the Spanish word meaning ’high,’ on account of the site’s elevation on a drainage divide between the Neches and Angelina Rivers.[6]Geography[edit]Caddo Mound Site near Alto

There were 534 housing units at an average density of 317.3 per square mile (122.7/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 65.55% White, 24.79% African American, 0.50% Native American, 0.17% Asian, 6.81% from other races, and 2.18% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 10.25% of the population.

How could I not win? About $500 in three hours — then home before the snow and in time to spend some time with my wife. Again, what’s not to like.

The hotel at Charles Town offers up just 150 rooms, which compared to many other casinos is not much at all. The hotel, along with much of the casino and racetrack is however located beside the Blue Ridge Mountains, in the Shenandoah Valley which can make for a relaxing weekend getaway. Free “continental breakfast” is included with hotel stays as well which is a plus. It is worth noting, however, that the Inn at Charles Town Races is located on the premises but is not directly attached to the racetrack or casino. The Hollywood Casino at Charles Town is a relatively new addition to a historic thoroughbred horse racetrack which brings in hundreds of thousands of visitors a year. Today the gaming facility at Charles Town Races features a full, vegas-style casino which includes table games and electronic games. In addition, it has a full on-site hotel resort and a racetrack. The racetrack at Charles Town was built in 1933 during the great depression, but the vegas-style casino here was just added a little over 10 years ago. The casino addition and expansion came about when Penn National Gaming bought the property and invested a reported $175,000,000 into the new facilities; much more than the $165,000 originally spent building the racetrack over 70 years ago.Casino at Charles Town Races
The Hollywood Casino located at Charles Town Races features a large selection of slots and other electronic games such as video poker. It is also equipped with a poker room (learn more in next section) and various table games. The Greystones ace, 22, has grabbed the attention of fans this week because he looks like US superstar Jordan Spieth.But he played the with aplomb of the reigning Masters and US Open champion too, carding a three under 69 to lead the Irish charge and leave Shane Lowry and major winners Padraig Harrington, Graeme McDowell and Darren Clarke playing catch up.As Harrington and McDowell battled to level par 72s and Lowry racked up a nightmare eight at the 17th to post a 73 that Clarke matched, it fell the Wicklow wonder-kid to fly the flag.Delighted to actually lead the Open thanks to birdies at the first and second and a 6.43am tee time, Dunne joked: “My first thought was, ‘Is anyone at home going to take a picture of it on the computer screen and send it to me later. It was only two holes, so many people were going to birdie the first two.“But I went out with a number in my head, trying to shoot 68. There’s nothing wrong with my technique. “I’ve got a new putter in the bag for the last few weeks. I really felt like I putted well at the Scottish Open for no reward and it was a little bit the same today.”Harrington was disappointed to miss early chances but happy to make a string of par putts coming home and post a 72 in the tougher conditions.He said: “Shooting two or three under par would have been an excellent day out there this afternoon. Level par, it’s tough when you seven under leading but that’s the nature of the golf course.”Ryder Cup skipper Clarke holed almost nothing and carded a 73, complaining: “I am holing nothing at all and whatever could go wrong, did go wrong. “If you hit it in the bunker, that’s fair enough.
